Piper Rudder AD 2025-02-11 - Alternative Metod of Compliance! Datum: 03.02.2026

Subject: Piper Rudder AD 2025-02-11 – Alternative Method of Compliance

The FAA, followed by the LBA, has accepted AMOC 8040-1.a.(1).(c) for AD 2025-02-11.

The compliance procedure involves inserting a 4-foot-long section of ¾” OD 4130 chromoly steel tubing (with a 0.049” wall thickness) into the base of the rudder post. The lower end of this tube is designed to slide past the rudder horn and is secured permanently with two AN3 bolts.   If the rudder is in an uncovered state, this connection is instead made via rosette welding.

A significant benefit of this method is that, when performed with care, it preserves the rudder’s original exterior paint and markings.

Our company will be implementing this AMOC and will document the process. We are committed to sharing any helpful insights with other operators of classic high-wing Pipers.

We are happy to support the Classic Piper aircraft community.

Please see the initial photos in our gallery; we will add more as additional rudders are modified in our shop.
